The famous Russian choral and symphony orchestra conductor, the honored worker of Arts, Gennady Dmitryak is currently the Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Yurlov Russian State Academic Choir as well as Professor at the Gnessins Russian Academy of Music and the the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatoire.
Originally studying at the prestigious Gnessins Russian Academy of Music as choir conductor, he quickly added to this achievement by attending the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatoire completing his studies in symphonic and operatic conducting. He trained under such outstanding musicians as A. Yurlov, K. Kondrashin, L. Ginzburg, G. Rozhdestvensky, V. Minin and V. Popov.
Gennady Dmitryak was Conductor in B.A. Pokrovsky Moscow Chamber Music Theatre, State Lorka Opera and Ballet Theatre of Havana, Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Music Theatre, the “Novaya Opera” theatre, of the USSR State Academic Russian Choir and the Moscow State Chamber Choir.
The ‘90’s saw him expanding his ambitions further with the foundation of a chamber choir, The Moscow Kremlin Capella, taking them on numerous tours through Europe and Asia. It should also be noted that it was during this time that he recorded over ten albums.
Dmirtyak’s creative potential was mostly unleashed during his work with Yurlov State Academic Choir. His professional and creative thinking gave breakthrough results, returning the Yurlov Choir to the top position among Russian choral singers. Choral performances have taken them to many of the leading stages in Russia and abroad. Their repertoire was enriched with modern compositions.
Gennady Dmitryak is not only a choral, but also a symphony orchestra conductor. This helped the Yurlov Choir to deliver various large-scale music projects in artistic collaboration with such famous symphony orchestras as the “New Russia”, State Academy Symphony Orchestra «Evgeny Svetlanov”, Moscow State Symphony Orchestra (Music Director Pavel Kogan), Moscow City Symphony Orchestra “Russian Philharmonic”, Symphony Orchestra of Orpheus Radio Station.
He did a large number of first performances, including compositions of A. Shnitke, R. Shchedin, A. Karamanov, G. Kanchelli, V. Kobekin, A. Tchaikovsky, A. Larin and many others.
Gennady Dmitryak participated in recording the new hymn if the Russian Federation. Plus directing The Moscow Kremlin Capella at President Putin’s inauguration in 2004, he went on to direct much larger choir commemorating the 60th anniversary of World War II. In December, 2011, during the IVth United Nations Alliance of Civilization in Katar Gennady Dmitryak was Principal Guest Conductor of the cultural program.
Gennady Dmitryak is the organizer and Art Director of the “Russian Kremlins” festival which aims to familiarize wider audience with Russian choral music. The mission of the festival is to further Russian choral compositions renaissance within authentic atmosphere of ancient monuments.
Apart from his teaching career, Gennady Dmitryak has a busy concert schedule. He is also often invited as a member of jury in choir competitions. The musician held conducting master classes in Serbian Summer Christian Academy during 6 years. He recorded over 20 CDs of Christian music of four centuries.
He was decorated with the 2010 Second Class order “For Great Services to The Country” for his activities of many years and contribution to national culture development. His advocacy of best Russian Christian music pieces and preserving as well as increasing Christian values in modern society were also noted with the Russian Christian Church Certificate of Honor – Saint Lord and Master Knyaz Daniil Moscovsky Order.
